Christmas Banner

Hard to believe it is almost the end of October and the holidays will be here soon.  I just finished this banner for our antique booth.

Sorry about the picture.  The weather was really dreary here today and this was the brightest place I could find to take the picture.  Have a great day.

OKTOBERFEST

The Oktoberfest was a great success.  Wonderful day and a beautiful spot to set up.  We were beside the stream that runs through Mayestown.  My sister also put a few things in and she did well too.  We had  a lot of fun, good food and got some antique bargains.  We did have to dodge the walnuts all day.  We were directly under a walnut tree.  Thank goodness for the canopy.

Deb and I are going to try a booth in an antique mall.  We have some antiques to mix in with our art.  Kind of a big step for us but we are excited about it.

The leaves are really getting pretty and the acorns are falling.  We have an abundance of acorns this year and it sounds like hail falling at times.  This is my favorite time of year, most of the summer people are gone from the lake and the geese have started moving.  Hardly any boats on the water except a few fishermen.  Summer is fun but it is nice to have things calm again.

I will leave you with a few pictures of some things I finished for the show and of my table at Oktoberfest.  Have a great day.

Birthday Book

I want to share photos of the book my Sis made me for my birthday.  It is one of the most wonderful gifts I have ever gotten.  It is full of old photos of our Mom and Dad and me.  I haven't had time to write in it yet, but I am going to write my  memories of all the photos  in the book.

These are only a few of the pages in the book.  It is just full of great stuff.  It is late and time for bed so good night all.

Rain, Rain, Rain

Oh so gloomy here today.  It has been raining all day, a nice soaking rain that we need but is also very chilly.  Makes me want to snuggle in and read a good book with a cup of hot chocolate.

I love using old books in my collages.  I called this one Lady in White.

Have a great day everyone, going to get that book.

Some New Things

Hi Everyone, I can't believe it has been a month since I made a post.  I have been so busy time just slipped by.  I decided today I would take the time to catch up on reading everyone's posts and share a some of what I have been doing.  The Oktoberfest is fast approaching, hope I get enough done.

These are some of the Christmas Stockings I have finished, they will have a wire hanger on them.  Most of them are made of wool and I used a good sized piece of lace for the base of the collage.

I made these pillows and really had fun doing it.  The picture in the middle is my husbands grandparents. He is a Texas boy born and raised just like his grandparents.

Small gift bags with wire hangers.

Larger bags with braided handles

Small needle books

A crazy-do pincushion

The weather is beautiful here today.  Fall is in the air.  The leaves are just starting to turn, love it.  Hope you all are enjoying your day.

Elegant hand

Hi all,  it has been a while since I posted anything.  I am working non stop to get ready for the Oktoberfest, had a birthday and several other things going on in my life, so just haven't had time.
I decided today I would take the time and get caught up on reading all the blogs I follow.  I was really missing you all.

I picked up this hand on sale, didn't know what I was going to do with it, but it appealed to me.  I covered the whole hand in lace then began to fill it with all kinds of things.  I liked it but thought it needed something, so I put it on a pedestal and added some fringe.  Looks elegant to me, what do you think, need anything else?

My Sis made me the most wonderful journal for my birthday,  I hope to get photos taken today so I can show you.  It is full of my childhood pictures and she left space for me to write the stories about each picture, just love it.  We are going back to our hometown in Iowa this fall.  There is a large flea market in What Cheer, IA (very close to our home town of Hedrick) so will spend the day there, then go to Hedrick and take some pictures.  We lost our parents when I was 21 and Deb was 10.  Hedrick is where all of our family lived but most have passed on now.  Really looking forward to returning for a visit.

Got to go and get back to work, everyone have a great day.  Nice to be back, missed  you all.

Hugs, Jackie

Beautiful Day

Hi all, It's been a while since I have posted.  It has been so hot, but today is really pretty here.  It was actually pleasant to sit on the deck and have my coffee....until a squirrel came bounding up on the deck and surprised my little dog Cricket.  She didn't know what to think they never come on the deck when she is out.  She loves to bark at them when she is inside but this was the first time she came face to face with one.  Finally the squirrel ran up the side of the house onto the roof, she just stood there and looked at the roof and did not make one sound....then she let loose and we had to come in just to make her stop barking.

I have been busy in the studio.  I am getting ready for the Okterberfest in Mayestown, IL.  It is in a small historic German town just a few miles across the river from St. Louis.  It is just beautiful there.  Lots of good German food, antiques and  arts and crafts.

My  daughter  and family is coming down this weekend to swim, looking forward to that.  Maggie starts school this year.  Can't believe she is old enough...they grow so fast.

Here are a couple of things I have finished up.

I love the color red and both of these projects show that.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
