Hi everyone, Sis and I went to the flea market this week end. It was a beautiful day and we found a few things. I found some lovely old buttons. I love buttons, can't get enough of them.
The little round white one with the champagne rhinestones is all glass. It is beautiful. The photo does not do it justice.
I have been working on fabric brooches this week have a few finished. They are really fun to make, kind of like a mini canvas to work on.
I will be listing these in my Esty shop later today.
Going to take a couple of hours from the studio today and go fishing with hubby, so many fishing boats out today it has given us the bug. Have a great day.

Spring
I don't know is Spring is really here, but I am going to enjoy these beautiful days to the fullest. It is so nice to open all the windows and go out on the deck with a cup of tea first thing in the morning. I have just recently discovered that I would rather have a cup of tea than a cup of coffee. Spiced Chai is my favorite, with a teaspoon of honey to sweeten just a little.
Our miniature peach tree is in total bloom, it has never bloomed this early before. I hope we don't get a freeze that will ruin all the buds and blooms. We have a set of bluebirds making a nest in an old bird house that we have in the yard. Every year they come and nest. I love to watch them.
My daughters husband takes beautiful pictures and has created a website, if you would like to take a look at his photos here is his site Ed. I also have it on my sidebar. My hubby has started sculpting again. He loves making Old World Santas from around the world. He wants to make them authentic to the country so if anyone has any good information on the correct clothes, etc he would love the info.
I have been busy lately getting things ready for out booth at the antique mall. The end of March they are having an event called March Back in Time. Lots of demonstrations of crafts of old and a Civil War encampment will be set up. Hoping for a large crowd.
Here is a wall hanging I created for the event.
Everyone have a great day.

I made some new needle books as well, these will be listed in my Etsy shop later today.
My nephew works for an equestrian center in Texas that does unique therapy for children and adults with disabilities. They are having a fundraiser in April. I created this wall hanging as a donation for the silent auction.
Everyone have a great day.

I Missed the Sale
The Joann's store here in my area is moving to a larger space and I just found out. They had all of the fabrics on sale at 75% off. By the time I got there they only had 4 little racks left. Oh well, the good thing is now they will have a larger store.
I did get some things finished this week. I bought this photo from an Etsy shop and here is what I created with it.
I love the photo. This photo does not show it very well. Just look at how the boy is looking at the girl, so adoringly. It made me think the boy was taking his new bride home to meet mom. What do you think?
Cricket our little dog gave us a scare this week. She had an allergic reaction to something. She had hives all over her body. Called the vet and she said to give her Benadryl and to watch and make sure her throat did not swell. The medicine worked but it made her very hyper so we were up all night long. I didn't mind since it made her better. She is back to her normal self.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs, Jackie

Nature Journal
My sis came down this week end. We spent the day in the art room. Had a great time. She finished a journal she was working on. I purchased a nature journal tutorial from Dawn at The Feather Nest. I worked on making a journal this weekend and finally finished it up today. This is what I came up with.
The front and back of the journal is covered with fabric and embellished with a vintage photo transfer of a nest, framed in a circle that came out of an old radio. I attached twigs, a tiny acorn and feather. The journal is tied together with vintage fabric.
I added a pocket to this page, then made a tiny note pad from old scrapbook paper, the cover is canvas with a vintage nest photo and nest embroidered under it. The small card with the bird is from an old game. These will be tucked in the pocket.
There are 16 pages all together counting front and back. I loved making the journal. Think I will try some others with different themes. I will be listing this in my Etsy shop.
Have you noticed the days are getting longer? Daylight Savings time starts in March, Yeah! It has been a very mild winter but I will still be glad when Spring gets here. Some of my flowers and my miniature peach tree are budding out. It is too soon for that to happen, hope it doesn't hurt them. Time for bed, have a great week.

The Pillow
Well, you all probably thought I had lost my mind when I told you about the pretty pillow I made and then did not post the picture of it. Guess the cold got to me ....or something, anyway here is the pillow.
Thank you again Lilla for the lovely piece. Looks great in my living room.

Brrrrr, so cold
The last 2 days have been our coldest of the winter and guess what...our electric went off last night around midnight. Called Ameren Electric and they said it would be on by 3:00 am, a car had hit a pole. No such luck, the other side of the lake got theirs on around 5:30 am. It's awful to look out the window and see lights just across the lake and we are still freezing, finally got ours on around 9:00 am Oh well, all warm now.
I have been working on a fabric book for the last couple of weeks. Finally got it done and wanted to share it with everyone.

Last year I won a pretty piece of embroidery work from Lilla.I have been saving it and finally decided to use it to make a pillow for my living room. I have red accents in the room and this was just perfect. I used a piece of red chenille fabric I purchased a while back. Just added lace and 3 red buttons.
Have a happy Sunday!!

We've Come A Long Way
We women have come a long way. This being an election year here in the USA I got to thinking ... we were not always allowed to vote, can you believe it? Well I started looking at pictures of the suffragettes and decided to create a collage in honor of these ladies, just ordinary folks like us.
Have a great day and enjoy the weekend.
