Christmas Stockings

I am working on Christmas now and just finished these stockings.  Dawn at The Feathered Nest posted a pattern for a cute little stocking.  I used that and came up with these.  They are made from an old sweater.

I am going to make a few more  out of burlap.  They are small enough to hang on the tree.  I love the holiday season.  I get to use lots of glitter and glitz, love to see things sparkle.  I am listing these in my Etsy shop later today.  Enjoy your day.

Fall - Oktoberfest

Fall has finally shown off some of it 's beautiful colors.  I took these photos from our deck.  I think they are even prettier than last year.

Sis and I did get set up at the Oktoberfest in Maeystown, IL on the correct weekend.  It turned out to be a pretty day, pretty windy but all in all nice.  It had rained a lot the night before and was cloudy early in the morning then the sun came out and all was well.  There was a lot straw to spread so it did not get muddy.  I took some hurried photos of our booth.  They aren't very good, people started shopping early.

We met a lovely lady there.  Her name is Linda Shields and she has a great blog Home For Good.  I have added her button to my sidebar.  She was there with her friend Becky.  I did not get a chance to take any pictures of the other booths but she did.  Her photos are wonderful, please hop over and take a look.

We here in the St. Louis area are big baseball fans and are pretty proud of our Cardinals.  Every where you look right now you see Cardinal red and as you can see even our furry friends are big fans.

We are hoping for another run at the World Series this year, so far so good.  Go Cards!

Grand daughter fun and BIG mistake

Had a great day with Maggie.  Her and her mom came down on Friday and spent the night.  We played all day in the art room.  She made this great witch hat.

She didn't want a skeleton on it because that was too..creepy.   Grandma kinda likes creepy but her hat turned our really well without it.  Then we had a small accident, spilled a bottle of green paint all over, as you can see on her skirt.  It was pretty easy to clean up off the floor especially since her mom was here and she cleaned it up.

Then she had movie night with Grandpa in his theater room and popcorn from the movie room popcorn popper.  It was a great day.

Now I have to tell you about the Big mistake.  As you all know Sis and I have been getting ready for the Oktoberfest.  We got our stuff all ready and packed in her transit van today to set up for tomorrow.  Got to Maeystown and no one was there.  Streets empty no hustle or bustle.  Oops, wrong weekend.  I did not read my paperwork, thought it was always the 1st Sunday in October...nope always the 2nd weekend.  We laughed all the way home.  It was a little embarrassing when we stopped at the General Store in Maeystown and the lady who organizes it saw us and ask if we were a week early.  Thank goodness we know her well so she knows we haven't lost our minds...yet.  Oh well we are ready for next weekend.

The weather here has turned really cold.  Hope we still have some nice fall weather before winter.  The furnace came on last night and suppose to be even colder tonight.  Hope you all have a great Sunday.

Hat Fit for a Witch

Wanted to share this.  Had so much fun doing it.

I used an old bed spring for this and put it in an old granite saucer, added vintage children and old buttons.  My Grandma is in the nest watching over the small ones.

Have a happy Sunday.

Look What I Won

I won the 500th blog post from Kim at Tabby's Place.  Isn't it beautiful.  I was so excited when it came in the mail.  It is an altered fabric book cover.  Right up my alley.  This is the front.

This is the back.  If you haven't been to Kim's blog pop over and take a look.   She has some amazing things to look at.

I had cataract  surgery about 3 weeks ago, so it really put me behind on getting ready for the Oktoberfest.  Now I am playing catch up, but the surgery was worth it.  I was having trouble seeing at night and in low light.  What a difference now, colors are so bright and pretty.  Can't wait to get the other eye done in October.  Don't have to wear contacts anymore either.  Yay!

I have gotten a few things done I would like to share with you.

This is a 3D book cover collage.

This wall hanging is made from a lovely old book cover.

I used an old clock to create this piece.

The weather was gorgeous here today, sunny and cool.  We have had quite a bit of rain finally, so things have greened up as well.  I love fall.  Hope you all enjoy your Thursday.

A Goat??

Looked out my art room window and saw a goat standing on our bottom deck.   What a surprise, it was so cute.  When  I went out to take his picture he jumped down on our hill and just looked at me.  Later in the day some folks across the lake came and tried to catch him.  He had gotten out of his fence and made his way around the lake.

I have been working on Halloween things.  So looking forward to Fall this year.  It has been beautiful here, weather has cooled and even had little rain.  I am making these for the Oktoberfest.

I purchased the Millinery Head tutorial from Karen at Todolwen can't wait to make it.  She has a great blog, if you haven't been there stop by and take a look.

Hot, Hot, Hot

Well, hello.  I have been absent for a while.  The hot weather has gotten to me, so hard to keep the flowers alive.  They are still growing but don't look as pretty as they should.   I have gotten quite a bit done in the studio so thought I would share a couple of things.

I am working really hard  to get ready the the Oktoberfest in Maeystown, IL.  My Sis and I are doing it together this year.  It is always a lot of fun.

I took a bunch of these heart pillows to the antique booth and they went over really well.

And just some little blank journal books.

Does anyone else watch Project Runway?  It is one of my favorites.  Love to see their creations .  This years group is very entertaining.  It's late so hope you all have a great Friday.

Oh, How Time Flies

My gosh, time has really flown by.  I have been so busy lately.  Sis and I just got back from a trip to Kansas City and before that I was frantically trying to get things done for the antique booth and a birthday present for Sis and Michael and I stained our upper deck.  Today I am going to try to get most of my pots planted for the deck.

We had a great time in Kansas City.  While we were at one of the shops in St. Joe we found out about a huge flea market in Sparks KS.  So off we went to find it.  An adventure in it's self.  The GPS  said there was no such place.  Finally stopped in a tiny town and I mean really tiny, wide spot in the road, at a little place called Ed's Station.  Not a gas station, just a little garage that reminded me of our Dad's old garage.  Inside 2 old gentlemen sitting in chairs visiting, that also made me think of how Dad and his brother used to sit and talk.  Really took me back in time and I loved it.  I asked where Sparks KS was and one of them said well you are headed in the right direction, just go 2 miles on down the road and when you see all the traffic you are there.   Finally we arrived and oh what fun we had.  Over 400  vendors and so many bargains.

The next day we went to the West Bottoms in Kansas City and more fun was had.  So many shops here, we spent the whole day.

This is what I made my sister for her birthday.  I call it the Family Tree.

The pictures are of our Great Aunt Belle and our Grandma Porter.    I want to share a piece that my Sis made for the booth.

Here a a few pieces I got finished.  I love using old book covers, as you know, so I really enjoyed creating this.

The last piece I want to share today is called Family Circle.  Something a little different for me.  Found this great piece of wood, just had to do something with it.

Enough for today, time to get started planting flowers.  Hope you all have a great day.

Hugs, Jackie
